Quick Guide to Building an Online Presence
As a high school athlete, building an online presence can help you connect with coaches, scouts, and fans. Here are some steps you can take to build a strong online presence:
Create a professional email address: Use a professional email address that includes your name and sport. I personally recommend Gmail since many colleges allow you to login using your gmail account when completing recruiting profiles which saves time and the confusion of creating multiple accounts.
Build a social media presence: Use social media platforms such as Twitter and Instagram to showcase your skills, post game highlights, and engage with your followers.
Create a FREE recruiting profile: Use recruiting websites like NCSA to create a recruiting profile. Include information about your athletic achievements, academic achievements, and contact information. NCSA has a great tool that helps you filter schools by size and location that will help you narrow down the schools that fit your criteria.
Create a YouTube channel: Post game highlights and training videos to showcase your skills and abilities to coaches and scouts.
Engage with your followers: Respond to messages and comments from fans and coaches. This will help you build relationships and connect with people in your industry.
Keep your online presence professional: Avoid posting controversial or inappropriate content that could damage your reputation. Remember that coaches and scouts may be watching.
Network with others in your industry: Follow other athletes, coaches, and industry professionals on social media. Engage with their content and build relationships with them.
By following these steps, you can build a strong online presence that will help you connect with coaches, scouts, and fans.
